Espacio Delicias will become a fantastical island this autumn
Madrid will add a new major immersive experience with a world premiere this autumn. The Island of Neverland will arrive at Espacio Delicias in October to turn the venue into a fantastical universe inspired by Neverland, with theatre, contemporary circus, aerial acrobatics, technology and visual storytelling.
The proposal was born from the partnership between the Spanish production company LETSGO and the international company Balich Wonder Studio. The aim is to create a large-scale show that is not limited to the stage, but instead immerses the audience from the outset and turns the visit into a complete adventure.
The production will occupy more than 7,000 square metres at Espacio Delicias, one of Madrid's venues that has invested most heavily in immersive experiences in recent years. The idea is for spectators not merely to watch a performance, but to move through a world built with scenery, light, movement and technology.
Although it draws on the imagery of Nunca Jamás, the production is not conceived as a simple adaptation of Peter Pan. Its creators preview an original story with new characters, designed to expand that universe and take it towards a more contemporary stage language.
The show will combine disciplines that usually exist in separate circuits. There will be theatre, acrobatics, contemporary circus and technological resources serving a visual narrative, with the intention of approaching major international productions without losing the character of a live, in-person experience.
For Madrid, the premiere reinforces Espacio Delicias's role as a cultural leisure hub in Arganzuela. Its facilities have hosted proposals linked to major franchises and immersive formats, and now the venue seeks to take a step forward with a production created to travel later to other markets.
The arrival of The Island of Neverland also fits a trend that is increasingly visible in the city: plans that combine performance, a route, technology and photography. Audiences no longer come only to sit in a theatre seat, but to enter spaces that promise to make them part of the story.
The event offers a clear picture of Madrid's new leisure scene: fewer boundaries between theatre, theme park, visual installation and major family show. At Espacio Delicias, Nunca Jamás is preparing to open its doors as a fantastical destination in the heart of Madrid.
