These are the 2026 public holidays and long weekends in Barcelona and Catalonia

The Generalitat has published the 2026 working calendar for Catalunya and Barcelona. Next year will have 12 official public holidays, in addition to the local non-working days set by each town council. In Barcelona, the city council has already confirmed the dates chosen for the city.
In 2026, workers will be able to enjoy three long weekends created by public holidays and four extended weekends, including Holy Week. These days are joined by local holidays, which in Barcelona will be 25 May (Whit Monday) and 24 September (La Mercè).
The calendar begins with the possibility of linking two long weekends: New Year's Day, which falls on a Thursday, and Epiphany, which will be on a Tuesday. If Friday or Monday is taken off, up to four days of rest can be achieved in each case.
Holy Week 2026 will be held from 3 to 6 April, with Good Friday and Easter Monday as public holidays. For schoolchildren, the holidays will begin on 30 March and end on 7 April.
Among the national public holidays are 1 May (Friday), 24 June (Wednesday, Sant Joan), 15 August (Saturday, Assumption), 11 September (Friday, Diada Nacional de Catalunya), 12 October (Monday, Hispanic Day), 8 December (Tuesday, the Immaculate Conception), 25 December (Friday, Christmas) and 26 December (Saturday, Sant Esteve). 1 November (All Saints' Day) and 6 December (Constitution Day) fall on a Sunday and are not added to the working calendar.
In Barcelona, in addition to the general public holidays, 25 May (Whit Monday) and 24 September (La Mercè) will be non-working days. This makes it possible to organise additional long weekends, such as La Mercè if Friday 25 September is taken off.
The Immaculate Conception or Constitution Day long weekend will be another opportunity to enjoy four days of rest, as 6 December falls on a Sunday and the 8th on a Tuesday. By taking Monday off, a long break can be linked together.
The year will end with an extended weekend at Christmas, as 25 December will be Friday and the 26th Saturday. In addition, 1 January 2027 will also be Friday, which will make it possible to link three days of holiday.
