Festival de la Infancia 2025: fun, reading and solidarity in Barcelona

Barcelona is preparing to welcome a new edition of the Festival de la Infancia, which will take place from 27 to 31 December 2025 at Fira de Montjuïc. The event, one of the benchmarks for family leisure in Catalonia, is celebrating its 63rd edition with a programme focused on reading and solidarity, aimed at boys and girls aged 0 to 12 during the Christmas holidays.

This year, the festival is committed to encouraging reading habits and solidarity values through around twenty playful, creative and educational activities. Highlights include the ‘Silent Library’ and the ‘Magic Library’, where younger children can listen to stories and take part in family story-creation workshops. There will also be travelling storytellers and spaces dedicated to sport, creativity and artistic expression, with the aim of sparking the curiosity of children of all ages.

Ticket purchases, now available online, also help finance access for children in disadvantaged circumstances. The Juguetería Solidaria, with toys donated by Mattel and Cairo, will be open for children to play freely; at the end of the festival, these toys will be given to vulnerable families. UNICEF, for its part, is offering the activity “Rain of rights”, where children can learn about and celebrate their rights through play.

The festival will occupy more than 20,000 square metres and will be divided into two large areas: Espai Mini, for children aged 0 to 4, and Espai Aventura, aimed at those aged 4 to 12. The programme includes creative workshops, adventure games, scientific experiments, sport and shows, all with an inclusive and educational approach that promotes values such as solidarity, civic-mindedness, respect for diversity and care for the environment.

Access to the festival is organised in sessions to control capacity. From 27 to 30 December, there will be a morning session from 10:00 to 15:00 and an afternoon session from 16:00 to 21:00. On 31 December it will open only in the morning, from 10:00 to 15:00. Tickets can be purchased at the Fira de Barcelona box offices, provided maximum capacity has not been reached, although the organisers recommend buying them online to secure a place and access promotions. The box offices will close one hour before the festival closes.
