FGC closes the section between Gràcia and Sarrià until 23 August

To cover the closed section, FGC has set up a replacement bus service with stops next to the Gràcia, Sant Gervasi, Muntaner, La Bonanova, Les Tres Torres and Sarrià stations. Passengers who normally travel through this sector will have to complete part of their journey by road over the next 13 days.

The S1 and S2 trains will continue to run to their usual timetables between Sarrià and the Vallès, so the main change is concentrated within Barcelona. The L7 and L12 urban lines will not alter their timetables during the works either.

There will, however, be changes to frequencies between Gràcia and Plaça Catalunya. Trains will continue running, but with a maximum service of 18 trains per hour in each direction, a circumstance that may slightly lengthen some journeys during periods of greatest demand.

FGC will take advantage of the usual drop in passengers in August to replace the current ballast-track system on one of the lines with a new concrete slab track. It will also renew the railway points located between Muntaner and La Bonanova, works intended to improve the reliability and maintenance of this section.

The works will also be felt at street level. Until 30 August there will be partial traffic disruptions on Via Augusta between Madrazo and Ganduixer, as well as occasional changes to the cycle lane’s route while the works last.

For those who use the Ferrocarrils daily between the centre and Sarrià, the main recommendation during these two weeks is to allow a little more time for the journey and bear in mind the transfer to the replacement bus. The full rail service is expected to return once the works finish on 23 August.
