Opening hours of the Fuente Mágica de Montjuïc: when it operates and which days it is closed
The Fuente Mágica de Montjuïc is once again one of Barcelona’s evening attractions. After several years without its usual shows due to drought and renovation work, the fountain has brought back its water, light, colour, and music displays. However, it does not operate every day or keep the same schedule throughout the year. If you want to visit the Fuente Mágica de Montjuïc, it’s a good idea to check the calendar beforehand so you don’t arrive at the plaza de Carles Buïgas and find it switched off.
Opening hours for the Fuente Mágica de Montjuïc in summer 2026
The calendar currently published by the Ayuntamiento de Barcelona covers the period from 3 June to 27 September 2026.
During these dates, the Fuente Mágica operates:
Wednesday to Sunday: from 21:30 to 22:30.

The show is free and there is no need to buy a ticket or make a reservation in advance.
Which days is the Fuente Mágica de Montjuïc closed?
During the summer calendar, the fountain does not operate as usual on Mondays and Tuesdays.
So, if you visit Barcelona between 3 June and 27 September 2026, the days to see the show are:
Wednesday;
Thursday;
Friday;
Saturday;
Sunday.
There are no scheduled sessions on Mondays and Tuesdays.

How long does the Fuente Mágica run in September?
The currently published season runs until Sunday, 27 September 2026.
That day marks the end of the announced summer calendar for the music and colour shows. From 28 September onwards, the subsequent schedule is not yet included in the municipal programme consulted.
For this reason, anyone wishing to visit the Fuente Mágica at the end of September or during autumn should check the official calendar before heading to Montjuïc.
Does the Fuente Mágica run all day?
No. Although you can visit the Montjuïc area throughout the day, the famous fountain show has specific times.
In the summer season of 2026, the night-time operation is concentrated between 21:30 and 22:30, with musical choreographies at 21:30 and 22:00.
Arriving a little early also helps to find a good spot to watch the show, especially on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and during dates with higher visitor numbers.
What happens after 27 September?
The Fuente Mágica’s schedule changes depending on the time of year. Historically, Barcelona has set different hours for summer and winter, with changes both in the days of operation and the session times.
At the time of updating this information, the Ayuntamiento publishes the current calendar up to 27 September 2026. Therefore, it should not be assumed that the summer schedule will continue in October.
The autumn and winter schedule should be checked when the Ayuntamiento publishes or updates the relevant programme.
Can the show be cancelled?
Yes. Official schedules may be subject to occasional changes.
Weather conditions, technical work, maintenance, water-related restrictions, or the holding of certain events in Montjuïc can affect normal operation.
For this reason, if visiting the Fuente Mágica is one of the main plans of the day, it is worth checking the municipal information on the same day.
The Fuente Mágica returned after the drought
The Fuente Mágica and other ornamental fountains in Barcelona were stopped from November 2022 due to the drought situation.
The reopening was then organised gradually. In the case of the Font Màgica, the Ayuntamiento took advantage of the downtime to carry out technical improvements, including the renewal of the control system, sound, and lighting.
With its return, one of Montjuïc’s best-known free shows was restored.

The nearest metro station is Espanya, with lines L1 y L3.
From there, you can continue on foot along the avenue of Reina Maria Cristina and head up towards Montjuïc.
