Ryanair strike in Madrid from 15 August: delays, cancellations and how to claim

Called by the UGT y CGT unions, the protest comes after months of conflict with Azul Handling, the company responsible for ground services. The unions are denouncing unfair sanctions, job insecurity, and a lack of response to their demands. The strikes will take place on 15, 16, and 17 August, and will continue every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday until December, in three time slots: morning, midday, and night.

Passengers may experience delays, baggage issues, or cancellations. If this happens, they are entitled to claim compensation of up to 600 euros, as well as a refund of the ticket and any additional expenses. It is also possible to request a free flight change if the cancellation is announced at short notice. Those travelling on these dates should check the status of their flight and keep all receipts. The strike is shaping up to be one of the longest of the year in the Spanish aviation sector.
