Madrid extends the JOBO pass and opens up more free culture to young people

The programme, which until now was aimed at younger people, is expanding at a time when many people in Madrid still have limited budgets for leisure. The extension could especially change weekday plans, as the municipal cultural offering seeks to attract new audiences.

The pass will give access to seven venues in the city: Nave 10 Matadero, Teatro Español, Fernán Gómez. Centro Cultural de la Villa, Centro de Cultura Contemporánea Condeduque, Teatro Circo Price, Cineteca Madrid, and Centro Danza Matadero.

Free admission will apply from Monday to Friday, as part of the JOBO offer and while places are available. Each user can reserve one ticket per show and attend one event per day, with tickets being personal and non-transferable.

The reservation system will also be updated to reduce no-shows. The aim is to prevent many tickets from being blocked and then not used, a common problem in free programmes when users reserve but do not attend.

Applications can be made online or in person. Once registered, each young person will access their personal account and can download available tickets for participating shows. Reservations will open ten days before each performance.

Since its creation, JOBO has distributed more than 300,000 free tickets and has become a gateway to municipal culture. For many young people, the programme allows them to discover venues, disciplines, and companies they might not have tried if they had to pay full price for a ticket.

The expansion sends a clear message about cultural life in Madrid: attracting young audiences is not just about programming more, but about making access easier.
