The sculpture ‘Julia’, by Catalan artist Jaume Plensa, will remain in Colón de Madrid square until December 2026. The City Council has decided to extend the presence of the piece for another year due to the great public interest it has generated since its installation.
The 12-metre-high work depicts the head of a woman with her eyes closed. It is made of polyester resin and white marble dust, a material that gives it a luminous and serene appearance. The sculpture belongs to the Fundación María Cristina Masaveu Peterson, which loaned it temporarily to the city.
Since its arrival, ‘Julia’ has become one of the most photographed and visited features in the Colón area, attracting both tourists and residents. The City Council highlights that its positive impact on the urban landscape and the cultural life of the capital fully justifies the extension of the agreement.
With this extension, the work will continue to be an artistic landmark and an emblematic point in Madrid, at least until the end of 2026.
