Katy Perry turned Madrid into an amusement park with acrobatics and pizza
Katy Perry transformed her concert in Madrid into a real playground: acrobats, video games, and even pizza delivery made the show impossible to ignore
On Tuesday, Katy Perry closed the European leg of The Lifetimes Tour with a concert at Madrid's Movistar Arena. The show proved to be a true fantasy: acrobatics, pyrotechnics, an 80s aesthetic, video game elements and even pizza being handed out.
The concert was divided into five striking sections. In the first, Artificial, the dancers emerged holding Game Boys, while the singer herself shone with the hits Dark Horse and Chained To The Rhythm. In the second act, Woman's World, fans were thrilled by California Girls, and Perry climbed onto a metal structure in the centre of the stage to perform Hot n Cold and Last Friday Night.
The show alternated dynamic numbers with interactive moments: the audience “chose” the songs, Katy shared the story of her career, invited fans onto the stage and flew over the arena on a giant butterfly while performing I Kissed a Girl. Ballads and acrobatics alternated with striking visual effects, and the singer generously handed out pizza, creating a real party atmosphere.
Katy Perry admitted that it was her first visit to Madrid and highlighted the beauty of the city and its inhabitants. The concert was energetic, unusual and memorable: a show that leaves you feeling as though it is a video game and a carnival at the same time.
