An app opens Barcelona's top restaurants to people working in the sector
Working in Barcelona's restaurant sector often means missing the city's own food scene. Now, a new app seeks to change that: QUEMO offers access to exclusive discounts at some of the most sought-after restaurants, only for industry professionals.
The model is simple: for 4.99 euros a month, users can access promotions of up to 15% off bookings for groups of up to four people. The offers are focused on less busy times, but also include weekends, adapting to the real schedules of those working in hospitality.
Among the available venues are well-known names in the city, such as Amar Barcelona, Bar Mut, and Casa Amàlia. The proposal allows access to places that are usually out of reach for many workers in the sector.
Unlike other platforms, QUEMO does not charge commissions to restaurants. The aim is twofold: to fill tables during quieter periods and to turn professionals themselves into advocates for the local food scene.
The initiative also aims to build a community. In addition to discounts, the app plans to organise events, tastings, and meet-ups for professionals, strengthening connections within the sector.
In a city where gastronomy is an essential part of its identity, this proposal introduces a new way to experience it from the inside. Barcelona is not just a place to eat: it is also starting to be shared among those who make it possible every day.
