Storm Íngrid batters Spain: rain, extreme wind and giant waves

Storm Íngrid arrives with heavy rain and thunderstorms in Galicia. Strong winds will blow across the entire peninsula. Waves of up to 10 metres threaten the northern coast. Barcelona is expecting cloudy skies and rough seas.

Storm Íngrid hits Spain this Friday, bringing moderate rain and occasional thunderstorms starting in Galicia. The rainfall will move throughout the day towards the west, southwest, and central parts of the peninsula, reaching the rest of the country by nightfall. Snow is expected in mountainous areas and low-lying parts of the north, while in the Canary Islands the rain will be lighter.

Wind will be a major factor across almost all of Spain, with very strong gusts making the day more difficult. Special attention is needed along the Galician and Cantabrian coasts, where waves could reach up to 10 metres, creating a hazardous situation along the shoreline. On other coasts, waves will range between 2 and 4 metres.

As for temperatures, they will remain largely unchanged from Thursday, staying stable in most regions.

In Barcelona, Friday will start with overcast skies and the possibility of light rain. As the day goes on, there will be some clear spells, although strong winds will blow throughout the city. The sea will be rough, with waves between 1 and 2 metres, and temperatures will drop slightly, especially in the hills.
