Barcelona Cathedral transforms with Gaudí virtual reality

Barcelona adds an essential appointment for those seeking to experience the city differently: from 26 February, the Cathedral hosts a virtual-reality exhibition that allows visitors to enter the creative universe of Antoni Gaudí. This proposal, recognised at international festivals and awarded for its innovation, invites attendees to walk virtually through the workshop where the architect gave shape to his most emblematic works.

The experience, entitled «Gaudí, l’Atelier du divin», premieres in Spain for the first time and offers total immersion in the final days of the genius from Reus. For 45 minutes, visitors explore Gaudí’s creative process, discover previously unseen details and feel the architecture as though they could touch it. The activity includes a 22-minute film and is available in seven languages, making it an accessible option for locals and tourists.

Sessions are held every half-hour, from 10:00 to 19:00, and it is necessary to arrive in advance. Tickets, at 18 €, are already on sale and high demand is expected, as the exhibition forms part of the standout events of Año Gaudí, alongside events at La Pedrera, Casa Batlló and Sagrada Familia.

The production is by Landscapes, Stromboli and the Cathedral itself, and has been awarded at competitions such as PiXii, Stereopsia and Beyond the Frame, in addition to receiving double recognition at XR MUST Festival for its interactivity and storytelling. Its appearance in the Venice Immersive section of the Venice Festival reinforces the prestige of a proposal that promises to revolutionise the way people approach Gaudí’s legacy in the heart of Barcelona.
