The Cursa Antirracista will run through Montjuïc on 13 June, starting next to Font Màgica
Barcelona is preparing for an event that combines sport and social advocacy. On 13 June, the anti-racist run promoted by Top Manta will return to the streets with a renewed route through Montjuïc and a clear message against racism.
The start will be at 18:00 from Avinguda Ferrer i Guàrdia, next to the Font Màgica, and the route will pass emblematic points such as the Palau Sant Jordi and Passeig Olímpic before ending at the same point. The change of setting follows the success of the first edition in Sants, which brought together thousands of participants.
Under the slogan ‘Migrants are not surplus, racists are’, the organisation seeks to mobilise the public and focus attention on inequalities affecting migrant people. Beyond the race, the event functions as a social megaphone at a time when the debate on migration is once again present in the city.
Registration is now open and costs 20 euros. All proceeds will go to Top Manta social projects, which currently employ several people and work on the regularisation and employment inclusion of former street vendors.
As part of the event, a new sports T-shirt from the ‘Agua Running Club’ collection, produced in its own workshop from recycled materials, is also being presented. The initiative brings together sport, sustainability and the social economy in a single project.
The organisation wants to take the race to other Catalan cities in the coming years, expanding its impact and consolidating a mobilisation network through sport.
Montjuïc, the setting for this edition, is one of Barcelona’s most versatile spaces. Its avenues have hosted major sporting and cultural events, and now they again become a meeting point where sport and advocacy share the same route.
