Venues and squares in Barcelona come alive with a diverse musical line-up this weekend
Barcelona heads into the weekend with an especially lively musical schedule. Venues, squares, and cultural spaces across the city and its metropolitan area are hosting concerts ranging from psychedelia and punk to more intimate and experimental performances.
The programme is spread across different points in the city and also reaches nearby municipalities. In open spaces, proposals such as Sagrera Sound System and concerts in Plaça de la Sagrada Família bring music directly to the street, with free admission and a neighbourhood atmosphere.
One of the main focal points is BCN Psych Fest, held from Thursday to Saturday at venues such as Upload, Paral·lel 62 and Zumzeig. The festival brings together artists from the psychedelic scene and has established itself as one of the weekend’s most recognisable events.
For those looking for more direct sounds, Saturday also features Punk-O-Trini, an event focused on punk that will take place at Rock’n’Trini. At the same time, the agenda includes smaller, more intimate concerts, such as Thompson Strings at Aclam Club or proposals in alternative spaces.
Sunday keeps up the pace with performances such as Juana Molina at Razzmatazz 2 and Pala at Auditori Barradas in l’Hospitalet. These are joined by local proposals and more experimental formats, such as the ‘4132314’ project at Fabra i Coats.
Live music is spread throughout the city and makes it possible to find concerts nearby without major journeys. The weekend consolidates Barcelona as one of the main live-music circuits, with options for every style.
