Recoletos recovers its great antiquarian book fair with a renewed poster, tribute to Calleja and thousands of treasures
The Antiquarian and Second-hand Book Fair will return from 30 April to 17 May to Paseo de Recoletos with 37 specialist bookshops, a double poster by Juan Berrio and a tribute to Editorial Calleja's 150 years.

Paseo de Recoletos is preparing once again to host Feria del Libro Antiguo y de Ocasión, an event that marks Madrid's cultural calendar every spring. This year, the fair comes with a visual novelty: the commemorative poster, by Juan Berrio, is presented in two different versions, bringing a renewed air to a tradition that continues to attract readers of all ages.
Asociación de Libreros de Lance de Madrid, the organiser of the event since 1977, has placed its faith in the talent of Berrio, an illustrator from Valladolid with more than forty years' experience in the world of comics and illustration. The artist has chosen a reduced colour palette and a style reminiscent of 1950s poster art, but with a bright, cheerful touch, intended to connect with the fair's spring atmosphere. In addition, the poster pays tribute to the 150th anniversary of Editorial Calleja, depicting a child looking into the universe of stories, as a nod to tradition and the future of reading.
From 30 April to 17 May, the section of Recoletos between Cibeles and Almirante Street will fill with stalls and thousands of copies, from paperback editions for one euro to genuine bibliographic gems. In total, 37 specialist bookshops will offer first editions, incunabula, rare copies and original manuscripts. Opening hours, from 11:00 to 21:00, make it easy for both Madrid residents and visitors to come and discover literary treasures or simply stroll among books and nostalgia.
Feria del Libro Antiguo y de Ocasión has become one of the most cherished events in Madrid's cultural calendar. Beyond the buying and selling of books, the atmosphere in Recoletos invites unhurried conversation, rediscovery of forgotten editions and the discovery of stories that cross generations. Every spring, the fair turns the promenade into a meeting place for bibliophiles, curious visitors and families, reminding us that Madrid remains a city that reads and celebrates its printed memory.
