Fundación Alicia Koplowitz contributes €150,000 to the recovery of Sierra Oeste

The contribution was announced by the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, who publicly thanked the foundation for the gesture and highlighted its collaboration at a particularly difficult time for residents of the region. The money will be allocated to reconstruction work already under way in the affected area.

This donation joins other solidarity initiatives made known in recent days, such as the €80,000 contribution made by Leo Messi. All contributions are channelled through the fund set up by the Community of Madrid to finance the recovery of homes, infrastructure, natural spaces and economic activities damaged by the fire.

The fire affected 17 municipalities in the Sierra Oeste and devastated tens of thousands of hectares, as well as causing significant damage to homes, agricultural and livestock holdings, woodland and infrastructure. Although the fire is now under control, restoration work and support for those affected will continue over the coming months.

The Community of Madrid is keeping active a recovery plan that includes financial aid, social assistance, measures to reactivate economic activity and environmental restoration actions. At the same time, the official platform remains open for individuals, companies and organisations to make new donations for the Sierra Oeste.

Beyond the amount of money, initiatives of this kind reflect the mobilisation of foundations, companies and individuals to accelerate the recovery of a region now facing a decisive stage. Reconstruction is not only about repairing material damage, but also about restoring activity in the municipalities, supporting affected families and restoring a natural environment profoundly altered by the fire.
