The legendary locomotive 10335 returns restored to Barcelona’s industrial heart

Locomotive 10335 returns to Bon Pastor after a complete restoration. More than 60 years of industrial history attest to it. Discover how it returned and who made it possible. The park of the Women and Men Workers welcomes it as a symbol of the industrial past.

Locomotive 10335, a symbol of industrial Barcelona, now stands restored in the park of the Women and Men Workers of La Maquinista, in Bon Pastor. After decades of service and a meticulous restoration, the piece returns to its native city as a witness to a key era.

Built in 1963 by La Maquinista Terrestre y Marítima, the 47-tonne locomotive represents the legacy of a factory founded in 1855 in Barceloneta and moved to Sant Andreu in 1920. Together with Sociedad Herrería de Barcelona, which later became Macosa, the two facilities set the industrial pulse of the city until their closure in 1993.

Ten years later, former employees established the Fundació Museu Historicosocial de La Maquinista Terrestre i Marítima y Macosa, with the aim of preserving the memory of these emblematic factories.

The locomotive’s restoration was carried out by workers from the CCOO de Alstom trade-union section, the company that managed the facilities in their final years. After months of work, the 10335 now occupies a prominent place in the park, reminding everyone of the weight of Barcelona’s industrial history.
