Formula 1 expects to bring more than €450 million a year to Madrid
Madrid is beginning to measure the impact of its future Formula 1 Grand Prix in the terms of a major event. The arrival of the championship at the Madring circuit could generate more than €450 million a year for the city, according to projections by the Madrid Chamber of Commerce.

The figure confirms the economic scale of an event that goes far beyond sport. The Spanish Grand Prix will attract more than 120,000 visitors and concentrate strong activity for several days in hotels, restaurants, shops, transport, leisure and tourism-related services.
Formula 1 arrives in Madrid with a clear promise: to place the capital on the international calendar of major sporting events. For a city accustomed to top-level conferences, concerts, trade fairs and matches, motorsport now presents itself as a new piece of that strategy.
Ángel Asensio, president of the Cámara de Comercio de Madrid, considers that the Grand Prix is a strategic opportunity to strengthen the city's international profile. The expectation is that spending by visitors, teams, sponsors and fans will be spread across different economic sectors.
The impact will be felt especially around Ifema, where the Madring circuit will be located. The area will have to absorb a significant increase in mobility, commercial activity and tourist presence during race days, with effects also on nearby neighbourhoods, hotels in the north of the city and transport connections.
Hospitality will be one of the sectors paying closest attention to the calendar. An event of these characteristics usually drives up bookings, dinners, travel and spending before and after the race. Commerce and mobility services also expect to benefit from the arrival of domestic and international fans.
The challenge will be to turn that impact into something orderly. Formula 1 can bring revenue and visibility, but it will also require precise management of access, traffic, public transport, security and coexistence in an area that already concentrates a great deal of activity during trade fairs and conferences.
Madring aspires to integrate into Madrid's urban life without operating as an isolated circuit. That will be one of the keys to the project: taking advantage of its location, the connection with Ifema and the transport network so that the Grand Prix is accessible and does not depend only on private vehicles.
Formula 1's arrival reinforces Madrid's role as a city of major events. But the real test will come when the figures meet the street: full hotels, visitors moving around the city, residents adapting their routines and an Ifema area turned for a few days into a global showcase for motorsport.
