Madrid Metro’s Line 7B recovers users with 3.3 million journeys
Madrid Metro’s Line 7B has exceeded 3.3 million passengers since reopening in November. The section is once again becoming established as a key connection in the east of the region, making daily journeys between several municipalities and the capital easier.
The route connects stations such as Barrio del Puerto, Coslada Central, San Fernando, and Hospital del Henares, which are key points for those travelling through the Corredor del Henares. After months of construction, the line has regained its role within the transport network.
The work has included technical improvements focused on safety. Sections of the tunnel have been waterproofed, the ground reinforced, and the drainage system optimised. In total, thousands of metres of ground and several kilometres of track have been addressed to prevent future issues.
Direct investment in this phase amounted to 2.7 million euros, although the total effort in recent years exceeds 170 million. These actions aim to ensure a more stable and reliable service for users.
In addition, the Comunidad de Madrid has processed dozens of claims to compensate for impacts caused by the works, with a significant economic effect. The goal is to keep the line operational without repeating the problems that led to its closure.
The line once again offers more stable journeys and reduces travel times in the east of Madrid. Its regular operation improves daily connections with the rest of the metro network.
