The V5 line extends its route and improves connections to La Marina
Getting around Barcelona changes from this 27 April. The V5 line extends its route to better serve La Marina del Prat Vermell, one of the city’s fastest-growing areas. The new terminus is at the junction of Carrer Motors and Carrer Acer, bringing the bus closer to new residents.
The route adds almost two additional kilometres southwards. From Carrer de la Mare de Déu de Port, the line continues along Carrer del Foc and Passeig de la Zona Franca to the new section, where eight stops are added. At the same time, three cease to operate, adjusting the route to the neighbourhood’s new reality.
Despite the extension, the service maintains its usual operation. The timetable does not change — from early morning until 10:00 pm — and the frequency is retained, a key point for those who use the line every day.
The V5 already carries thousands of people every day. With almost 2.8 million passengers a year, it has become an essential line for connecting this area with the rest of the city. The extension seeks to respond to that growth without changing operations.
Barcelona is adjusting its transport network to urban growth. More stops and better coverage make journeys easier in new neighbourhoods, although they require adaptation to changes in some usual routes.
