Villar del Olmo municipal pool reopens with key improvements for summer
Villar del Olmo is unveiling its refurbished municipal swimming pool just as summer approaches. The venue reopens after a renovation costing more than €463,000 that improves the pools, changing rooms and catering area, an update intended for residents and visitors looking to cool off without going too far from Madrid.
The work has been financed by the Community of Madrid and the Town Council, and represents a major renewal for a facility closely tied to everyday life in the municipality during the hot months. In small and medium-sized towns, the swimming pool is not only a place to swim: it also serves as a meeting point, a family outing and an afternoon space for children and young people.
One of the most notable changes is in the children’s pool. The traditional chlorine system is being replaced by salt chlorination, a technology that keeps the water in good condition with fewer added chemical products. For many families, this may mean a more comfortable experience for children, especially for their eyes and skin.
The renovation also includes improvements to the main pool basin, a key part of extending the facility’s useful life and avoiding maintenance problems in the middle of the season.
