Madrid Río's urban beach is now open: jets, shade and freshness without leaving the city

Madrid once again has its own “beach” without the sea, but with 72 water jets, 315 sprayers and thousands of reasons to escape the heat. From this June until September, Madrid Río’s urban beach is already open to the public every day from 11:00 to 21:00. Located in Parque de Arganzuela, this free aquatic space is the only permitted bathing area in the city and one of the favourite options for cooling off without leaving the capital.

This 6,500-square-metre site has become a classic of Madrid summers. The facility is divided into three distinct areas: a shallow sheet of water where you can lie down and wet your feet, a central area with 72 water jets that shoot streams at different heights and rhythms, and a third section that releases fine clouds of water through 315 diffusers, creating a genuine urban microclimate. All this is complemented by green areas, more than 300 trees providing natural shade, and rest areas ideal for families or groups of friends.

In addition to its recreational function, the facility has a treatment system that recirculates chlorinated water, ensuring hygiene and sustainability. No prior booking is required, and entry is completely free. With the city already reaching summer temperatures, Madrid Río confirms itself as a comfortable and refreshing alternative to municipal swimming pools or trips to the coast. A beach without sand, but with all the freshness Madrid needs.
