More than 25 municipalities are celebrating the seventh Ruta del Garbanzo Madrileño. Enjoy special menus and local wines from 9 to 25 January. Take part and win your weight in chickpeas. Traditional dishes to beat the cold. Discover the standout restaurants.
The seventh edition of the Ruta del Garbanzo Madrileño with Vinos de Madrid is already under way. From 9 to 25 January, more than 25 municipalities in the west of the Comunidad de Madrid are offering special weekend menus, where local chickpeas and wines from the Vinos de Madrid D.O. take centre stage.
At weekends, restaurants in towns such as Pozuelo de Alarcón, Colmenarejo, Brunete, Arroyomolinos, Hoyo de Manzanares and Valdemoro, among others, invite diners to enjoy traditional spoon dishes, ideal for January’s low temperatures.
The Madrid chickpea, known for its small size and orange hue, becomes the star ingredient of the route. Participants can sample menus accompanied by local wines and, if they rate their experience through a mobile app, they enter a draw for an unusual prize: receiving their own weight in chickpeas.
The participating restaurants include Cava de la Casa María, Casa Parrondo, Cutxi-Bar, Ultramatinos Octavio, La Taberna de Casa María in Mercado de Antón Martín, restaurante Ampudia and picoTea, all in the city of Madrid, as well as many others across the region.
The cold in the capital invites people to seek refuge in emblematic establishments such as La Bola Taberna, Lhardy, Malacatín, Bar Alonso, Montia, Treze, Ferreiro, La Leñera, Amós, Pabblo, Lúa and Jai alai, where spoon dishes become the best ally against winter.
