The T4 reconnects Verdaguer y Sant Adrià this Monday after two months of works
The T4 del Trambesòs line will resume its full route between Verdaguer y Estació de Sant Adrià this Monday, 14 September. This restoration brings to an end more than two months of disruptions due to works being carried out around Glòries and the Gran Via, although the works will continue to affect the T5 y T6 lines.
Since 3 July, the T4 has been out of service between Verdaguer and El Maresme. The closure has forced changes to travel along the Diagonal and around Glòries for almost the entire summer, with alternatives available on the metro, bus, and other Trambesòs services.
From Monday, trams will once again run normally along the entire T4, passing through Glòries and linking Verdaguer with Sant Adrià de Besòs. The reopening is happening according to the original schedule for the works and will restore one of the most important public transport connections between the centre de Barcelona, Poblenou, and the Besòs area.
However, Monday’s change does not mark the end of all disruptions on the Trambesòs. The T5 and T6 lines will also resume service between Ciutadella | Vila Olímpica and Glòries, but will remain suspended between Glòries and Sant Martí de Provençals.
Later on, likely at the end of September, the affected section of the T5 and T6 will be reduced to the stretch between Glòries and Can Jaumandreu. This situation will continue while the next phase of works is underway, which are expected to finish in spring 2027.
This summer’s works are focused on transforming the Gran Via around Glòries. The projects include changing the tram route between Badajoz y Bilbao streets and doubling a section that previously operated with a single track. The aim is to increase the capacity of the infrastructure and improve its integration into the new urban space.
The intervention is part of a broader overhaul of the Gran Via, with changes also being made to pavements, cycle lanes, and space allocated to public transport. The full reopening of the T4 thus marks the end of the main disruption of the summer for its users, although works around Glòries will continue over the coming months.
For those using the T5 y T6 lines, however, Monday will only bring a partial return: they will be able to travel as far as Glòries from Ciutadella | Vila Olímpica, but will still need to use other alternatives to cover the section that remains closed towards Sant Martí de Provençals.
