Vila Olímpica reinvents itself with new restaurants and becomes a key area for eating in Barcelona
Vila Olímpica is positioning itself as one of Barcelona's new strong points for going out to eat. The renovation of Port Olímpic has reactivated the area with restaurants and spaces that attract both local residents and people seeking plans by the sea.
The change is particularly noticeable at the Balcón Gastronómico, where several venues with direct views of the Mediterranean have opened. Here, offerings such as Nuara, focused on Mediterranean grilling, coexist with Eldelmar, by the Torres brothers, where the ingredients set the rhythm of the menu.
The offering is also diversifying beyond this hub. Casi Esquina is committed to Mexican cuisine with a contemporary approach, while Bar El Cuco maintains a more accessible everyday option, with varied set menus and reasonable prices.
Among the new names are Kresala, with cuisine based on large cuts cooked over embers, and Urretxu, which brings flavours from the Basque Country with traditional dishes. They are joined by classics such as El Cangrejo Loco, which remains a reference for those seeking seafood cuisine.
Together, they create a gastronomic route that combines new venues with established offerings, making it possible to tailor the plan according to budget or type of experience, from a quick meal to a more special dinner by the sea.
This transformation changes the way the area is used. Vila Olímpica ceases to be merely a place to pass through or for nightlife and becomes a destination for eating well without moving away from the centre, expanding Barcelonans’ real options when choosing where to go out.
