CaixaForum Madrid transforms summer nights with plans for everyone
CaixaForum Madrid will extend its hours again this summer with a programme designed for going out when the heat drops. Its Summer Nights will bring together magic, concerts, dance, workshops and participatory activities on Paseo del Prado, with plans for families, friends and curious audiences.
The series will be held on four Thursdays, from 25 June to 16 July, always from 19:30. The venue will extend its opening hours until midnight, including its shop and café, making each day a complete plan for people seeking culture outside the usual morning museum format.
The first event will be on 25 June with the Night of Magic and Objects. The show Aluzina, by Nacho Diago, will be one of the main moments of the evening, with a proposal that mixes illusion, visual theatre, lights and objects to surprise both children and adults.
On 2 July comes the Night of Dance and Percussion, with companies such as Da-Te Danza and Vero Cendoya. The day will also include a beatbox battle between Fruity B.O.M.B. and Dagová, contemporary jazz by Gabriel Peso and workshops designed so that the public do not merely watch from their seats.
On 9 July, CaixaForum Madrid will change register with a night devoted to rock’n’roll. Los Mambo Jambo, Castor Head and Velvet Candles will perform, in a programme that will also include a talk with Fernando Pardo and a hairdressing workshop to explore the genre’s aesthetic imagery.
The final event will be on 16 July, with jazz and movement in the leading roles. Leïla Duclos and Hip Horn Brass Collective will provide the music, while tap-dance classes and solo-jazz workshops will open the door to a more physical and participatory experience.
Many activities will be free, although some will require a prior ticket or reservation. It is therefore advisable to check the programme before going, especially for proposals with limited capacity, where demand may be high because they are evening and family plans in the centre.
CaixaForum’s Summer Nights reinforce an idea that is increasingly necessary in July: culture can also serve as a refuge from the heat. Between magic, music and workshops, the venue joins those plans that make it possible to experience the centre differently when the city changes rhythm as afternoon gives way to evening.
