Las Rosas expands the Municipal Games: the programme includes chess, fencing and hockey
This season, the Las Rosas Municipal Games open new sporting horizons by adding chess, fencing and hockey for thousands of young participants.
The Municipal Games of Las Rosas in Madrid are expanding the programme for their 43rd season: chess, fencing and hockey join the usual disciplines. More than 5,800 athletes, from schoolchildren to juniors, will now take part in the competitions.
The new sports will be played in closed tournament format over several spring weekends. Hockey will occupy a central place at the new La Marazuela sports complex, where classes will be given for younger children and Hockey 7 tournaments held for the older categories. Chess tournaments will be held at the Entremontes sports complex, and fencing will take place at Dehesa de Navalcarbón.
The city council stresses that distributing the competitions across different complexes makes sport accessible to all parts of the city and maintains a high standard of organisation.
At the same time, registration has opened for spring sports, including artistic and sports gymnastics, as well as canoeing. Applications can be submitted until 15 February through the Municipal Games app or on the city’s official website.
