The start-ups transforming Barcelona: from health to mobility and local commerce
Barcelona is focusing on projects already affecting daily life. The Premis Innovació Barcelona, held in the 22@ district, have recognised start-ups working in health, sustainability, mobility and consumption, with solutions designed for the real city.
The event, promoted by 22@Network Barcelona together with Ayuntamiento de Barcelona, brought together institutions and companies in an environment where innovation is understood as something practical: improving how the city is lived in, worked in and moved around.
Among the award winners, fetaLife stands out for developing a liquid fetal incubator to improve the survival of extremely premature babies. Elohawk also stands out, using artificial intelligence to detect illegal dumping with high precision, a common problem in large cities.
The impact also reaches everyday life. Spot4Dis makes it easier to find parking spaces for people with reduced mobility, while Vaib connects technology companies with local commerce to encourage more local and sustainable consumption.
These projects share a clear approach: solving specific problems. From health to mobility or the environment, the award-winning solutions seek to integrate into daily life and make it easier.
Barcelona thus reinforces its model as an innovative city. When ideas move from the laboratory to the street, change ceases to be the future and starts to be felt in how every neighbourhood is lived in.
