L’Eixample fills with inclusive art on a unique route through local shops

The L’Eixample district has launched the first Inclusive Art Route for Commerce, an initiative that turns the shop windows of twenty-five businesses on Consell de Cent and Girona streets into art galleries. The works, created by users and students from special education, occupational and mental health centres in the district, will be on display until 6 January. Later, from 19 January to 14 February, all the pieces can be visited at Casa Elizalde.

The route, promoted by the Oficina de Promoción Económica de L’Eixample and supported by the Institut de Persones amb Discapacitat del Ayuntamiento de Barcelona, has the collaboration of the Coreixample traders’ association and the participating centres. Its main aim is to give visibility to art as a means of expression for people with disabilities and, at the same time, boost local commerce during the Christmas campaign.

The 25 works, with Christmas themes and free technique, invite local residents to visit the businesses and take part in a prize draw. To do so, they can collect a route passport from the establishments, write down the letter of each work and place it in one of the four ballot boxes distributed at key points in the neighbourhood until 10 January. The prizes consist of two €50 shopping vouchers.

The route’s opening coincided with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, last 3 December 2025. The centres that contributed their creations include Escola Fàsia, Centre Ocupacional Paideia, Tallers Blancs, Club Social CPB, Sant Guillem, Condal and CAE Bernardette, with both group and individual works.

This proposal makes inclusive art a leading part of commercial and social life in L’Eixample, inviting everyone to discover the talent and creativity of its creators in a nearby and accessible setting.
