L’Hospitalet reorganises its streets: more spaces, fewer cars and relief for residents
1 October will mark a new chapter in mobility in L’Hospitalet, with the activation of the new green and blue parking zones. In total, the city gains more than 3,250 regulated spaces, a 50% increase aimed at bringing order to traffic and returning space to pedestrians.
The neighbourhoods of Centre, Sant Josep, Les Planes and La Florida will introduce their new zones, while the existing ones will be expanded in Sanfeliu, Santa Eulàlia and Pubilla Cases. Green zones will be free for residents, who will no longer need stickers or badges: the system will automatically recognise authorised vehicles. It will be enough to obtain the free ticket at the parking meter or validate it through the AMB Aparcament Residents app.
The initiative, co-financed with Next Generation funds, goes beyond parking: it includes new spaces for motorbikes and people with reduced mobility, the reorganisation of loading and unloading zones and an overall improvement in road safety.
With this measure, the City Council seeks to reduce through traffic, improve air quality and make neighbourhoods more comfortable and peaceful places. Summing up the project's philosophy, a municipal source defined it this way: “It is not only about parking better, but about living the city better”.
