Agreement to restore a key trail on the Costa Brava
The iconic camino de ronda de Lloret de Mar could reopen after years of closure thanks to an agreement between the Town Council and the owners of an estate linked to former Kazakh president Nursultán Nazarbáyev. The deal, pending approval by the full council, aims to restore public access to one of the most valued stretches of the Costa Brava.
The agreement redefines the route of the path to better integrate it into the natural environment and ensure public use. The owning company will be responsible for both the project design and the execution of the works, which will allow the continuity of the route along the coastline to be restored.
Negotiations have involved the Town Council, the Generalitat, and the property in Lloret de Mar, with the aim of resolving a situation that has been the subject of debate for years. Before its final approval, the agreement will be open to public consultation for one month.
If the project goes ahead, the path will become public and will be managed by the municipality once the works are completed. The reopening will bring a direct change for residents and visitors, who will once again be able to walk this stretch of coast.
