Barcelona will have isolated showers today, but Easter will turn towards milder weather

Barcelona faces a Thursday with isolated showers, especially at night. The clouds will gradually disappear and the anticyclone will bring milder temperatures. Spring weather will settle in just in time for the Easter holiday period.

Barcelona's weather takes centre stage again this Thursday, with the threat of occasional rain that could catch out those going out at night. The instability is concentrated particularly along the coast, where residents of Maresme, Garraf and Baix Llobregat could notice stronger winds and a shower that is more intense than usual.

During the early hours, increasing cloud cover will be evident, driven by the rebuf of the tramuntana. Some showers accompanied by thunderstorms cannot be ruled out, although the situation will tend to calm down first thing on Thursday. Minimum temperatures will rise slightly, making the morning a little less cold.

As the day progresses, the clouds will give way to the sun. From early on, clear spells will emerge and, by midday, conditions will be much brighter. Highs will range between 16 and 18 °C, with a pleasant feel and a sky that will take on a whitish hue in the afternoon. As night falls, temperatures will drop more sharply, especially in areas where the wind subsides and the sky clears.

The forecast for the coming days invites optimism. From Good Friday, the cold air mass will retreat and give way to much milder conditions. The sun will dominate Barcelona's sky and the wind will lose strength, allowing temperatures to continue rising gradually. No rain is expected during the most festive part of Holy Week, and thermometers could reach 24 or 25 °C between Sunday and Easter Monday, especially in the pre-coastal area.

For those planning outdoor activities or city breaks, stable weather will be the great ally. Mornings will still require a jacket, but at midday people will be tempted to leave it at home and enjoy the advanced spring in the city.

The phenomenon of the rebuf of the tramuntana is common on the Catalan coast when the northerly wind is channelled towards the coast, generating a sudden increase in cloud cover and, at times, brief but intense precipitation. Such situations are usually resolved within a few hours, but they can alter the perceived temperature and the daily planning of those who live or work near the sea. In Barcelona, these episodes mark the transition between unsettled weather and the arrival of more stable, sunny periods, such as those expected for the rest of Holy Week.
