Balenciaga’s iconic costumes from the Disney+ series arrive in Madrid

Universidad Villanueva de Madrid presents a unique exhibition dedicated to Cristóbal Balenciaga, showing 18 original costumes created for the Disney+ series bearing his name. The exhibition, entitled ‘From the workshop to the screen: Balenciaga’s legacy’, can be visited from 20 January to 12 February at two different campuses.

The selection of pieces highlights the mastery of volume, structure and cut that defined the Basque designer, regarded as one of the great figures of 20th-century fashion. Visitors will be able to appreciate up close how Balenciaga’s artistic and technical vision was translated into every garment, reflecting his influence on international haute couture.

In addition to the costumes, the exhibition is enriched by a carefully selected collection of period books and magazines from the archive of the Universidad Villanueva Library. This material contextualises the designer’s creative universe and makes it possible to delve deeper into his cultural impact.

The exhibition will be available at the Costa Brava campus from 20 January to 5 February, and at the Zurbano campus from 5 to 12 February. Visiting hours are from 09:00 to 21:00, offering ample opportunities to discover Balenciaga’s legacy in the very heart of Madrid.
