The Reyes Magos arrive in Alcalá de Henares and receive letters at the Palacio Arzobispal
In January, the Reyes Magos visit Alcalá de Henares, stay at the Palacio Arzobispal, and receive letters from children and adults during an event with special activities and moments of prayer.
The Diocese of Alcalá de Henares is preparing to receive the eagerly awaited visit of the Three Kings for the sixteenth consecutive year. Melchior, Gaspar and Balthazar will arrive in the city on 3, 4 and 5 January, staying at the emblematic Archbishop's Palace, according to the Archdiocese.
On Saturday 3 January, at 16:30, the Three Kings will enter Alcalá's Cathedral-Magistral, where they will be received by Bishop Antonio Prieto Lucena and pay homage to the Baby Jesus. After this event, the procession will move to the parade ground of the Archbishop's Palace. There, until 20:00, children and adults will be able to hand in their letters personally, full of wishes and prayers.
On Sunday 4 January, the royal reception will be open from 11:00 to 14:00 and from 17:30 to 20:00. On Monday 5 January, hours will be only from 11:00 to 14:00. That day, the Three Kings will gather all the letters received and place them at the feet of the Baby Jesus.
During the handing in of letters, a Eucharistic adoration chapel will be set up for those who wish to pray. In addition, priests will be available for confessions or conversations, and there will be a banner dedicated to the Holy Children Justus and Pastor, patrons of the diocese.
All letters handed in at the Archbishop's Palace will later be taken to monasteries and convents in the diocese. There, religious communities will pray throughout 2026 for the senders and their intentions. For those unable to attend in person, the diocese offers the option of sending the letter by email or post, providing a downloadable template for writing it.
