Hortaleza residents bid an emotional farewell to their beloved pharmacist
After decades of work, a Madrid pharmacist's usual shift became an emotional farewell that brought the whole neighbourhood together.
An unusual and very moving event took place in the Madrid neighbourhood of Hortaleza: residents organised a large farewell for their pharmacist Fausto, who had worked in the area for several decades and had become, for many, almost another member of the family.
On his last day at work, he came out to the counter at the usual time, but instead of the usual queue, he found a large number of neighbours gathered to thank him for his years of dedication. More than a hundred people came to thank and support someone who, for a long time, had been not only a professional but also a good conversationalist and a source of support in everyday life.
The pharmacy team prepared a small gesture in advance: they put up a sign inviting neighbours to come and say goodbye. In the text, they stressed that they wanted to give Fausto «a farewell full of affection», as for many years he had welcomed people with patience and a kind smile.
