Christmas lights in Madrid 2025: timetable and when they are switched on
The Christmas season arrives in Madrid with the switch-on of the emblematic lights that transform the city into a true fairy tale.
From 22 November 2025, streets, squares and buildings will be filled with lights inviting people to stroll and enjoy the festive spirit.
Madrid's Christmas lights are a must for those visiting the capital at this time of year. This year, the lighting will cover 240 locations and more than 13 million LED lamps, from decorative sakura to thousands of garlands and thirteen giant fir trees, which will become the heart of the festive route. From the majestic tree in Puerta del Sol to the striking decorations on Gran Vía, every corner will feature unique designs that will surprise everyone.
The lighting schedule will be:
Sunday to Thursday: From 18:00 to 00:00.
Weekends and public-holiday eves: Until 1:00 in the morning.
7 December: From 18:00 to 01:00.
24 December and 5 January: Until 3:00 in the morning.
