Madrid leads business creation with 31% more companies and fewer closures
Madrid reinforces its economic dynamism with a clear increase in business creation. More than 2,600 new companies were formed in February alone, 31% more than a year earlier, while closures fell, directly affecting employment and daily activity.
The trend has continued since the start of the year. In the first two months of 2026, more than 5,000 companies were created, placing the region at the national forefront and concentrating a significant share of business activity in Spain.
This growth translates into new job opportunities and more activity in different neighbourhoods. The average exceeds 80 companies created per day, a figure that reflects the pace at which the capital’s economic fabric is moving.
Investment is also keeping pace. More than 230 million euros have been invested in these new companies, with a particularly strong presence in technology and innovative sectors, where Madrid is gaining weight at a European level.
The drop in dissolutions reinforces this trend. Fewer closures mean greater stability for existing businesses and a more favourable environment for entrepreneurship.
