Madrid hosts the Laureus again: the world's sporting elite gathers in April

Madrid will once again become the epicentre of world sport on 20 April 2026. For the third consecutive year, the Spanish capital will host the prestigious Laureus World Sports Awards, known as the 'Oscars of sport', in a gala that promises high emotion and major surprises.

The Palacio de Cibeles will be the venue where the leading figures of the international sporting scene gather. Although the list of nominees in the seven categories has not yet been made public, legendary names such as Usain Bolt, Rafael Nadal, Simone Biles, Aitana Bonmatí, Lamine Yamal, Novak Djokovic and Jude Bellingham are already being considered. Teams such as Spain's women's national football team and Real Madrid could also be among the favourites.

The ceremony, organised by the Laureus Academy, will bring together the global sporting community to pay tribute to the year's best. The jury, made up of Academy members, will be responsible for choosing the winners in each category. Anticipation is growing as the date approaches and Madrid prepares to experience an unforgettable night.
