Madrid expands primary care: new programmes for patients with chronic kidney disease and chronic pain

The regional authorities have expanded primary care services, introducing new support programmes for patients with long-term conditions. Starting this month, health centres will begin caring for people with chronic kidney disease and persistent non-cancer pain, with a particular focus on early detection and comprehensive follow-up.

These measures are mainly aimed at patients in risk groups, such as people with diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and older adults. Primary care doctors and nursing staff will be able to identify changes at early stages and support patients through individual follow-up plans, helping to slow the progression of diseases and improve quality of life.
