Madrid weather changes: rain and a temperature drop before a sunny Friday

AEMET forecasts a low of around 15 degrees and a high of 25 in the capital on Thursday. The probability of precipitation reaches 100% during the first half of the day, although the forecast rain will initially be light and the sky will tend to clear as the day goes on.

The change will be especially noticeable early on. Those heading to work or travelling around the city in the morning will find conditions considerably cooler than on previous days, with more cloud and the possibility of needing an umbrella at times.

The wind will also be present, predominantly from the south-west and at speeds of around 25 kilometres per hour according to the forecast for Madrid. This combination of air, clouds and lower temperatures will create a very different feel from the intense heat typical of late-August afternoons.

Conditions will change again on Friday the 28th. AEMET expects clear skies throughout the day, with no precipitation, a low that may fall to 13 degrees and a high once again close to 25.

It will therefore be an especially pleasant Friday for getting around the city or making outdoor plans. The sun will return, but temperatures will not yet soar, and the early hours of the day will even have an unusual coolness for those still settled into the summer routine.

This brief respite does not mean that the heat is over. Forecasts point to a recovery in high temperatures over the weekend, with values that will once again approach and then exceed 30 degrees in Madrid.

Between Thursday and Friday, the city will thus experience two almost opposite scenes: umbrella and light jacket at the start of one day, terraces under clear skies just 24 hours later. August is not saying goodbye yet, but for a few hours Madrid will get a taste of much milder temperatures.
