Madrid celebrates Rauschenberg’s centenary with the exhibition “Rauschenberg: Express. In motion”
An exhibition of Rauschenberg has opened in Madrid, where “Express” comes alive and blurs the boundaries between painting and movement.
The Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza is dedicating an exhibition to the work of American artist Robert Rauschenberg to mark the centenary of his birth. At the heart of the exhibition is the famous work Express (1963), which showcases his unique approach to mixed media and silkscreen techniques.
Visitors will be able to discover how Rauschenberg broke down the barriers between painting, printed images, movement, and popular culture, creating dynamic, almost 'living' compositions. The exhibition includes previously unseen materials that reveal his creative processes and experimental spirit.
The exhibition will be open until 24 May 2026, highlighting Rauschenberg's influence on contemporary art and his connection with artists from the second half of the XX century.
