Madrid celebrates Croquette Day with 4,000 free units in Retiro

This Friday, Madrid becomes a paradise for croquette lovers. The Arzábal Retiro restaurant, located next to El Retiro Park, will hand out 4,000 free croquettes to celebrate Croquette Day, on 16 January. The initiative, promoted by Iván Morales and Álvaro Castellanos, seeks to pay tribute to one of the most emblematic bites in Spanish cuisine.

Arzábal’s croquettes, recognised for their creamy texture and crisp exterior, have been among the most requested dishes since the venue opened. With this event, the group wants to pay homage to popular cooking and the pleasure of sharing tapas in good company.

Madrid is famous for its tapas culture and, among the most popular options, croquettes hold a special place. In addition to Arzábal, other notable bars in which to enjoy this classic are Krudo, Casa Mortero, El Buen, La Primera, Varra, La taberna de Elia, Miga Cana, Egun-on, Berria, Cokima and Casa Orellana.
