Madrid concentrates almost half of taxpayers with millionaire incomes in Spain
Almost one in every two taxpayers declaring more than 601,000 euros a year lives in the Community of Madrid, according to official 2023 data.
The Comunidad de Madrid once again leads the national statistics for the concentration of great fortunes. According to the latest data published by the Agencia Tributaria, 44.6% of taxpayers who declared income above 601,000 euros during 2023 did so from this region. In total, 14,738 people across the country were counted within this bracket, representing less than 0.1% of all IRPF filers.
Although the national figure fell slightly compared with the previous year, with almost 500 fewer taxpayers, Madrid has kept its number virtually intact. Catalonia ranks second, with just over 21% of these filers, followed by Andalusia, with 8%.
Madrid's tax attractiveness, added to the concentration of economic and asset-related activity, continues to attract a considerable portion of the country's highest incomes.
