Madrid is building more than 4,400 affordable rental flats: where they will be and how to apply

The Community has started construction of 4,403 affordable rental flats within the framework of Plan Vive, an initiative intended to make access easier for those who need it most. Work is progressing in areas such as Valdebebas, Villaverde and Ensanche de Vallecas, as well as in Alcorcón, Getafe, San Sebastián de los Reyes, Móstoles and Tres Cantos, among other municipalities. Prices vary depending on the development, but in many cases they are well below market prices, with rents ranging from around €400 to €1,000 a month. The programme is aimed at young people, older people, people with disabilities, families with dependent children and women in vulnerable situations. To take part, several requirements must be met: living in the region, not owning another property and having a regular income within set limits. Applications must be made through the official Plan Vive portal. Once the documentation has been registered, applicants enter a draw by municipality and type of dwelling. This measure represents a further step in responding to an urgent demand: living in Madrid without spending one's life on rent.
