Madrid allocates more than €4 million to transform local security with cutting-edge technology

Public safety in Madrid will take a step forward in 2025 thanks to an investment of 4,086,500 euros approved by the regional government. This initiative, part of the regional ESICAM179 plan, aims to update and strengthen the resources of local police forces in 109 municipalities, providing them with modern technological tools and materials to respond better to current needs. With this aid, town councils will be able to acquire everything from vehicles and drones to saliva drug-detection devices and bulletproof vests. The creation and maintenance of canine units, which have become a key resource in prevention, control and rescue work, will also be funded. The call enables each municipality to access different grant lines simultaneously, expanding the scope and tailoring of improvements. The Community of Madrid is thus backing a better-equipped and better-prepared local police force, able to act quickly in emergencies, strengthen urban surveillance and protect the most vulnerable groups. This effort to modernise security at the local level reinforces the strategic role of municipal forces as a first response to everyday challenges.
