Madrid enjoys a more settled Saturday and looks to Sunday with some uncertainty
Madrid wakes this Saturday with a feeling very different from that of recent days. After a week marked by rain, grey skies and scattered storms, the weather offers a respite and returns the spotlight to the sun. The improvement is noticeable from early morning in streets, terraces and parks, right in the middle of the weekend and with the city still immersed in the San Isidro atmosphere.
The day starts off cool, especially in northern areas and towns near the mountains, where temperatures range between 7 and 9 degrees. As the morning goes on, the sky stays mostly clear and temperatures rise to around 20 degrees in the centre of the capital. The wind is light and the weather once again invites people to spend more time outdoors.
No rain is expected in Madrid city during the afternoon and the weather will feel noticeably more settled than in previous days. Many of the activities planned for this Saturday, from concerts to walks in parks and markets, can go ahead without the constant threat of storms that marked much of the week.
Looking ahead to Sunday, 17 May, the forecast remains mild, though with a bit more cloud cover in the second half of the day. Temperatures could rise slightly to reach 21 or 22 degrees, but there is a chance of an isolated shower in parts of the north of the region and areas near the mountains towards the evening.
Even so, the weekend finally brings back a more spring-like feel. Madrid is once again filled with terraces, strolls and spontaneous plans after several days of umbrellas and sudden changes in the weather. In neighbourhoods like La Latina, Malasaña or Chamberí, the atmosphere already feels more like a classic May in the city.
