The Pope's visit mobilises hospitals and administrations in Madrid
Madrid is already preparing for the visit of Papa León XIV, scheduled from 6 to 12 June, an event that will bring thousands of people and require increased services across the city. The regional government has called for institutional cooperation to be prioritised to ensure the event runs smoothly.
From Hospital Enfermera Isabel Zendal, the Health Minister, Fátima Matute, explained that special arrangements are already being organised. Hospitals, emergency services and Summa 112 are adjusting their operations to respond to possible incidents during the visit.
The health operation is coordinated with the other authorities. The Government Delegation, headed by Francisco Martín, has convened meetings with the regional government, City Council and Episcopal Conference to finalise logistical details.
The arrival of the Pontiff Pope Leo XIV will also entail changes to mobility and reinforcements in public services. A high influx of pilgrims is expected, which will require the city’s usual operation to be adapted for several days.
In this context, Madrid is preparing for a high-impact event combining religious, logistical and urban dimensions. Coordination between institutions will be key for the city to keep its rhythm while hosting one of the year’s most heavily attended visits.
