Madrid in Game, a local project that conquers the eSports podium

What began as a commitment by Madrid City Council to integrate video games into the city’s cultural and professional life is now receiving national recognition. Madrid in Game, a public initiative devoted to developing talent, organising tournaments and consolidating the eSports ecosystem in the capital, has received the award for best eSports project at the Nebrija Event Awards 2025. Unlike proposals focused solely on competition, Madrid in Game combines training, professional events and real opportunities for emerging players. Under the Esports Series Madrid umbrella, it has brought video games to secondary schools, youth associations and neighbourhoods where talent exists but the tools are lacking. Since March 2023, it has multiplied its activities, with more than 100 events including local tournaments, workshops and collaboration with world-class championships. The award does not merely recognise effective management: it rewards a clear vision. Madrid is not content to be an events venue; it wants to be a talent pool, a community and a driving force for the sector. And now, with this accolade, it seems to be achieving that.
