Madrid launches an app for personalised tourist routes with online transport payment
Madrid has introduced a new app that creates personalised tourist routes and instantly shows how to reach each spot by metro, bus, BiciMAD or Cercanías trains.
The service is free and works in 95 languages. Users select their travel dates and interests, and the system creates a personalised itinerary. The route can be adjusted on the go through the integrated chat assistant, adding museums, monuments, or events. Each location’s page provides opening hours, ticket prices, and accessibility information.
The application uses artificial intelligence technology and displays real-time data. It also allows users to pay for municipal bus journeys and BiciMAD rentals using a QR code. Municipal authorities plan to extend this feature to the metro and Cercanías trains.
According to the delegate for Urbanismo y Movilidad, Borja Carabante, the aim of the project is to make it easier to get around Madrid and to connect tourist routes with public transport in a single digital tool.
