Madrid launches Plan 40-40: the first residence will be built in San Blas-Canillejas
In Las Rosas, in San Blas-Canillejas district, the first residence under the Plan 40-40 programme launched by authorities is scheduled to open in 2028.
The Government of the Community of Madrid has announced the launch of Plan 40-40 and has called a tender for the construction of the first residence for older people in the Las Rosas neighbourhood, in the San Blas-Canillejas district. The centre is expected to begin operating in the summer of 2028.
The complex will have capacity for 150 residential places and 50 day-centre places. The space will be organised into small units of up to 25 people, with common areas, access to the outdoors and ongoing communication with families. Each resident will have an individualised care plan.
The project includes modern security and surveillance systems, telemedicine, rehabilitation spaces and sensory stimulation. Priority will be given to proposals that include coordination with public medical centres.
Plan 40-40 provides for the creation of 40 residences and 40 day centres across the region. This year, the authorities plan to call tenders for the first 20 facilities, expanding the care network in response to the growth of the older population.
